Mwendwa, Hussein ‘beef’ denies youngster move to Europe

Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa (left) and Super Eight tournament founder, Hussein Mohammed.

Difference between Football Kenya Federation (FKF) leadership and that of a Nairobi based tournament have denied a budding Kenyan footballer an opportunity to pursue a professional career in Europe.

Youngster, Joe Wanjiku, who plays for amateur outfit Umeme Sports FC, has apparently been offered a contract by Georgian club FC Iberia 2010, but the impending move has been cancelled by world football governing body, Fifa, because he plays “in an unsanctioned league.”

This development follows a prolonged tussle between FKF officials and administrators of Nairobi based Super Eight tournament over the eligibility of the competition.

Early this week, FKF Communications Officer, Barry Otieno, explained circumstances surrounding the cancellation of the player’s potential transfer.

“Joe Wanjiku Kimani’s transfer from Umeme Sports to FC Iberia 2010 (Georgia) was cancelled by Fifa due to the player’s participation in an unsanctioned league,” Mr Otieno said.

UNSANCTIONED TOURNAMENTS

FKF President Nick Mwendwa is also on record for saying that the federation would not recognise unsanctioned football tournaments in the country.

“We won’t stop people from organising football tournaments but if they are not registered, we will not recognize them. That means, they will not enjoy benefits of recognized leagues and that includes securing international transfers,” Mwendwa said in a recent interview.

Recent discussions between officials of the two bodies to have the Super Eight absorbed into the Nairobi FKF league have failed to yield fruits.

As a result, Umeme Sports which features in the SportPesa sponsored Super Eight tournament, is not recognised by FKF and Fifa.

The Super Eight is a decade long on and off football competition organised by the Extreme Sports group under the tutelage of astute businessman Hussein Mohammed.

In 2011, Hussein unsuccessfully vied for the FKF top seat but lost to Sam Nyamweya. Since Mwendwa’s team assumed office in February 2016, there have been indications of a strained relationship between the former and Hussein.

Guys, protect your erection with these eight healthy habits

An illustration of the male reproductive organ.

A man’s self-worth is tied to his bedroom performance- that is not news. The good news is that it is all in his hands.

A man can indeed protect his erection by choosing to live a certain way. Here are 8 habits every man should take up.

1. Quit smoking – Smoking could easily be the greatest enemy to a man’s libido. It does this by narrowing the blood vessels. When the blood vessels are narrow, there is less flow of blood to the nether regions making it harder for a man to get and keep an erection.

2. Give up the coffee – Caffeine, just like nicotine, also affects a man’s libido by narrowing the blood vessels. You can replace your coffee habit by other healthier habits like green tea or just plain water.

3. Sleep more – Sleep is absolutely important for a man’s erection because it is while he is sleeping that the body repairs all of the tissues including penile tissue. Also, when asleep a man will have several erections which are good for his overall sexual health.

4. Brush your teeth – It may come as a surprise but your dental health is tied to your libido. Certain dental infections can interfere with a man’s libido. If you want a satisfying sex life, keep your teeth brushed.

5. Stop cradling your laptop – You need to stop working with your laptop placed on your laps. When you do so, the heat from the laptop seeps into the testicles and destroys sperm. Sperms are intended to thrive in cool conditions. If you keep cradling your lap top, you might end up shooting blanks.

6. Keep your waist in check – The larger your waist size, the more risk you could be putting your penis in. A big waist line indicates high levels of harmful fats which cause erectile dysfunction.

7. Clean out your medicine cabinet – The various medications you take could be the cause of your low libido levels. You can counter this possibility by ceasing to self-prescribe and seeing a doctor with all your issues.

While getting a prescription, discuss with the doctor the possibility of low libido being one of the side effects.

8. De-stress – It is true that today’s fast life especially in urban areas like Nairobi can be very stressful. It us up to you to come up with creative ways to deal with the stress less it kills your libido.

On the day that he formally left his office at the Judiciary, former Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga on Thursday evening elicited excitement among his followers on social media with yet another one of what has become his trademark tweets.

In his tweet, the former CJ thanked his followers for their support while alluding to the fact that he is now an ‘ordinary’ citizen. But how he concluded the tweet is what caused all the excitement. He wrote:

But if he thought Team Mafasi were dead asleep, he must have been wrong judging from the responses that his tweet drew from self-styled Team Mafasi members.

The former Chief Justice, who is known for tweeting in Sheng, has been appointed the new Commonwealth Special Envoy to Maldives.

The three Jubilee MPs charged with hate-speech and incitement were isolated after government-allied legislators failed to show up at the Milimani Law Courts on Friday.

Comparatively, Cord leader Raila Odinga led a battalion of MPs to the courts in solidarity with their arrested colleagues.

Sources have told Nairobi News that President Uhuru Kenyatta warned Jubilee MPs against going to the courts to show support for Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete) and Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati).

The six Cord legislators are Senator Johnson Muthama (Machakos), MPs Junet Mohammed (Suna East), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) and Florence Mutua (Busia).

The warning, we are told, was issued through majority leaders Aden Duale (National Assembly) and Kithure Kindiki (Senate).

“The President reasons that an impression would have been created that his government supports hate-speech,” said the source who requested anonymity.

People have questioned the genuineness of the government in stamping out hate-speech after Mr Kuria was included in the select committee on IEBC reforms, although he had been charged with hate speech.

Zahra Moi, wife of Baringo Senator Gideon has been handed a top parastatal job  in new state appointments announced on Friday.

Mrs Moi has been appointed to the Tourism Research Institute board, a position previously held by Dr Margaret Wawuda Mwakima.

In a Kenya Gazette notice published on Friday, Tourism cabinet secretary Najib Balala stated that Mrs Moi’s “appointment was with effect from May 31 and revoked the appointment of Margaret Wawuda Mwakima (Dr).”

Mrs Moi was awarded with a Magna Cum Laude degree in Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration during the August 2015 USIU graduation ceremony.

Magna Cum Laude is awarded to students with a GPA of above 3.7 out of 4.0. In the Kenyan and British systems, a GPA of 3.68 out of 4.0 is equivalent to a First Class Honors.

In 2012, Mrs Moi was tasked to explain to the public investments committee how a company she owns acquired one of the KNAC properties from the receiver manager, Omondi Mbago, a former registrar-general.

POLITICAL LOYALTIES

Also, retired politicians and some of those defeated in the last elections have been picked to join boards of key government agencies in the latest appointments published in the Kenya Gazette on Friday.

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku has been appointed a member and the Non-Executive Chairperson of the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) for a three-year tenure.

Former long serving cabinet minister Noah Katana Ngala joins the Kenya National Library Services Board as a member, while another former minister, Gideon Ndambuki, has also been appointed a Trustee of the National Social Security Fund Board of Trustees.

Others handed appointments include conservationist Paula Kahumbu who will become the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National Museums of Kenya Board for the next three years.

Writer and founder of Story Moja Muthoni Garland was also appointed as a member of the Kenya Cultural Centre Board with the cabinet secretary revoking the appointment of Former Kenya Airports Authority Deputy boss implicated in the Atur brothers saga, Naomi Cidi Kumbatha.

Eight Jubilee and Cord legislators charged with incitement to violence were on Friday released on bail after spending four days in police cells.

Senator Johnson Muthama and MPs Timothy Bosire, Aisha Jumwa, Junet Mohammed and Florence Mutua were each released on Sh1 million bond each or a cash bail of Sh 300,000.

Their Jubilee counterparts Moses Kuria and Ferdinand Waititu were both released on Sh 5 million bond or cash bail of Sh2 million each.

Kimani Ngunjiri was released on a Sh1 million shillings bond or a cash bail of Sh 300,000.

The eight sang heartily together to ‘Paulo na Sila‘ gospel song moments after their bonds had been read out by Magistrate Daniel Ogembo.

The Magistrate said the offenses are extremely serious.

Lawyer John Khaminwa had appealed to court to withdraw all the cases facing the eight suspects so that the matter is settled amicably out of court.

Magistrate Ogembo said it will be up to the Director of Public Prosecution to determine such a request.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria shakes the hand of Cord leader Raila Odinga in court on June 17, 2016.

Cord leader Raila Odinga on Friday said he has forgiven Gatundu MP Moses Kuria over his alleged calls for the “assassination” of the Opposition leader.

Mr Odinga said the MP was only entertaining his Jubilee supporters and that a person with an intent to kill does not announce in public.

“He was just entertaining the people. Lord forgive them for they do not know what they are doing,” said Mr Odinga in his speech during the requiem mass of post-independence Minister Ngala Mwendwa held at the AIC Church in Milimani.

Mr Odinga attended the mass together with Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Moses Kuria is among eight lawmakers arrested on Tuesday over accusations of hate speech and incitement to violence.

The Gatundu South MP had over the weekend called for the ‘assassination’ of Mr Odinga  at a thanksgiving rally of a vernacular station radio presenter held at the Safaricom indoor stadium, Kasarani.

CITY GIRL: Women who drink silly, black out are a big letdown

PHOTO | FILE

I am a devout teetotaler. I have never tasted alcohol in my young life, mostly due to my strict Presbyterian upbringing in which there was never a mention of alcohol in my childhood.

There is a way children are brought up that they will never entertain even a whiff of interest in alcohol.

Also, my Presbyterian properness taught me about ‘consecration’ and my body being a ‘temple’.

But this does not mean that I have anything against alcohol. As a matter of fact, I have no problem at all with people who drink alcohol, particularly the young women.

DRINK SILLY

My problem is the young women who drink themselves silly. The ones who black out. You see, ladies, if you do not take care of yourself, someone else will. And they will take care of you in the best way that serves them right.

I have read a lot of stories of young women taken advantage of in that state of drunkenness, many of them who were too drunk to remember what happened to them.

We’ve heard of stories of young women going to house parties where they quaff demonic combinations of alcohol after which they lose it and the next day, most cannot recall what happened the previous night because they were too high.

I have never been drunk so I can only imagine what a deeply regretful feeling it must be for a woman not to remember how she got home the previous night, or worse, what happened to her because something inside her feels terribly wrong.

I am tired of these pitiful stories of women who got themselves drunk while in the wrong company, something happens to them and we are all here sympathising with her while really we should be asking her the tough questions. Why?

BLACK OUT

Why in the world would you get so drunk to a point of a black out? Aren’t you an adult of sound mind, sound enough to know when you’ve had enough alcohol?

You are not a toddler or a child that you leave the burden of your personal security entirely to a group of friends, whom you do not even trust.

Nobody dragged you to that bar kicking and screaming and force-fed you tots of tequilas. You knew what you were getting into, so why are you complaining when something nasty happens to you that night?

If you drink yourself to an apathetic torpor in chintzy bar and something happens to you in one of those dark street alleys, who is to blame?

Your personal security is your responsibility. Your state of mind is your responsibility. You getting home safe, in one piece, with both your shoes and all your clothes intact is your personal responsibility and women need to stop heaping that responsibility on men who do not care about them.

FRIDAY NIGHT OUT

You have the power to control and decide whatever happens to you on a Friday night out. You and only you are in control of how you feel in the morning after. You cannot stagger along the streets like an old village oaf coming from Mojos and expect to get home in one piece.

Your sins will eventually catch up with you and the world has a way of teaching drunk, irresponsible women a tough lesson.

It is a bitter pill to swallow, but I think it is stupid for a woman to be so entitled as to think that the rest of the world owes her protection just because she is a woman.

Come on, do not believe the tedious drivel of the Twitter feminists who blame everything on men and absolve irresponsible and drunken women. Don’t listen to the nonsense they tweet.

If any woman who ever went through a nasty experience while drunk was to be entirely honest, they would tell you they wish they did things differently.

Their lives right now are haunted and riddled with numerous what ifs. “What if I was not so drunk?”

They will tell you they wish they never got so drunk and maybe, just maybe, things would have turned out differently.

The choice is yours, ladies. Remember tequila sio supu!

Bungama Senator Moses Wetang'ula (left) and Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka.

An online battle has ensued in Bungoma to determine who is more corrupt between Senator Moses Wetang’ula and Governor Ken Lusaka.

The two leaders on Friday went at each other with unsavoury tweets to ridicule and discredit each other.

Mr Lusaka sparked the tiff with a tweet showing a goat keenly watching a TV set with a depiction of Mr Wetang’ula addressing the senate.

Hours later, Mr Wetangula replied the governor with a tweet of his own that read:

Mr Wetang’ula has recently been the butt of jokes in political circles. Last weekend, a hilarious video showing Deputy President William Ruto making unflattering comments about Mr Wetang’ula went viral.

Ladies, tips to get out of the friend zone this weekend

Happy-couple-III

So the man of your dreams, the man who you spend every waking moment dreaming about friend zoned you. You want to date him but he tells you that he loves you like a sister. What then?

A woman has two options. You can either sit around and cry about your troubles or you can take matters into your hands and get him interested in you romantically. Here’s how to achieve the latter;

1. Admit it – The first step to getting out of the friend zone is admitting it. Admit that the man you are interested in doesn’t see you romantically. Only then can you begin to do something about it. Burying your head in the sand will only keep you in this situation.

2. Make a confession – A lot of women in the friend zone will be scared of admitting their feelings because they are scared of how the man they are into will react. If you are scared, ask yourself, what is the worst thing that could happen? The man will tell you that he doesn’t share your feelings and you will move on with your life. See? Easy.

3. Make him feel that you are wanted – Often times, something becomes attractive when we see someone else with it. It is the same with relationships. When you start dating other men, men who treat you really well, then your dream man might just realize just how much he is missing.

4. Become relaxed when around him – I know, this one is not easy to do. When you are around a man you like, it is easy to become nervous. What this communicates to the said man is that he has power over you. We don’t want that. Try at relaxing, if you can’t, fake it till you make it.

5. Stop being his best friend – Some women imagine that the closest way to a man’s heart is by forging a friendship with him. They are wrong. Doing this will just keep you in the friend zone.

6. Make them miss you – If you are always having friendly lunches and coffees with this man, then he will always see you as a friend. It may be hard to do but create some distance between you and him. When he doesn’t see you for a while, maybe he will think differently of you.

7. Get a new look – Sometimes all you need to get the man you want to look at you how you want is to get a new look. A new look might get him to see you differently.

8. Improve yourself – The best way to get any man is to become a better version of yourself.

Eight libido boosting tips for new mothers

Mother-and-baby

The birth of a new baby usually brings with it a lot of joy. There are however parts of a new mother’s life that can be negatively affected by child birth. Like her sex life. Here is a look into ways that a new mother can boost her sex life;

1. Try aphrodisiacs – If you start feeling sluggish in the bedroom after you have just had a baby, it is wise idea to try some aphrodisiac foods. The great news is that most of these foods are found right in your kitchen. You can try eating chocolate, almonds or chili peppers.

2. Get moving – Try getting some sort of exercise. Exercising will boost blood flow in the body. A better flow of blood leads to a better sex life. Exercising can be as easy as brisk walking for a few minutes every day.

3. Reconnect with him – Often times, it happens that after child birth, women forget all about their men and shift all the focus on their babies. This definitely kills libido for both the man and the woman. Try reconnecting with your man. Remember the man he is and the relationship the two of you had before the baby came.

4. Just do it – Once a baby comes into the picture, the common reaction for couples is to begin scheduling everything, including sex. This can make sex less exciting for both the man and the woman. Try having spontaneous sex.

5. Stop comparing your body – The truth is that when you have your baby, your body changes. Even when you lose weight, it is hard to go back to your pre-pregnancy body. To get your sexy back, you need to accept the body that you have now.

6. Buy new undies – Yes, you will be surprised at how much change a few pairs of new under wear can bring in your sex life. This is how it works, a new pair of sexy under wear will make you feel sexy. It is also a good way of sending messages to your partner that you are interested.

7. Don’t stress – The more you stress over your sex life, the harder it is likely to get. It may not be as good as it was before but it is okay to cut yourself some slack.

8. Sleep – Lack of sleep is a major blow to a woman’s libido after child birth. To get your sexy back, try and catch some sleep. If child care is talking up all of your time, ask for help. Getting enough sleep will leave you feeling well rested and refreshed.

Embakasi East MP John Omondi’s bodyguard Constable Tobias Oluth Omondi and his colleague Constable Bob Musioma Bigogo were arrested in Kayole on Saturday for extortion.

Constable Omondi of Embakasi police station and his colleague based at the Logistics headquarters in Ruaraka two men along Kangundo road and demanded money from them to secured their release.

The two victims, Gabriel Oduor and Fredrick Owino Ogutu told the police that the two, together with a member of public who was later identified as Mr Michael Onyango Ndigo, arrested and bundled them in a Toyota Wish registration number KBL 557D and drove to Nyama Villa in Kayole.

Police officers on patrol stopped the vehicle and arrested the 5 occupants. The officers are being investigated for the offences of demanding money by menace and being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

The third suspect who claimed to be a police officer will also be charged with personating a police officer.

DEATH SENTENCE

The arrest of the two officers comes just two days after another police officer attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) and a robbery convict who was sentenced to death but later won the appeal six months ago were arrested in Nairobi for a series of robberies.

The three, police said, were linked to at least six robbery incidents within Ruiru and adjacent areas in the last few weeks and several others in Nairobi.

Hardly a week after police in Nakuru arrested a man posing as a doctor, a second suspect has been intercepted running a clinic in Pangani estate in the town.

Mr Charles Okemwa has been running the St Luke Medicare Centre Nakuru without a licence.

According to Nakuru County Commander Hassan Barua, drugs and syringes found in the man’s clinic had government labels.

The police boss further revealed that Mr Okemwa has been involved in forgery of P3 forms and other medical documents.

“A client agreed to take us to where he had obtained a fake P3 form and that is how we arrested the suspect in his clinic,” said Mr Barua.

CHARGED IN COURT

Copies of partially completed P3 forms and rubber stamps bearing the names of the Nakuru Level Five Hospital were recovered at the clinic.

Police have since launched investigations to determine how long he has been operating the clinic.

The suspect is being held at the Nakuru Central Police Station for interrogation and will be charged in court once investigations are complete, according to the police.

A total of three fake doctors have been arrested at the provincial hospital since November last year.

Last week, Mr George Mburu, 33, a man said to have been treating patients at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital for two weeks was arrested. The suspect was posing as a nurse.

In November last year, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation officers arrested a woman who had been issuing fake employment letters to desperate youths at the hospital. Ms Naomi Nyamongo, whose case is pending, is alleged to have posed as a doctor.

How renowned radio host fooled the public with ‘cheating wife’ joke

Radio personality Nick Odhiambo was caught up in a storm on Friday after he took a joke a bit too far. It all started how everything starts nowadays: WhatsApp group and screenshots.

A man identified as Byron sent a picture of a young woman and a man in a compromising situation. Although both are naked, only the woman’s face is shown clearly.

So immediately the picture was sent, Nick took on Byron asking him the source of the picture. “Byron where did you get this picture… that’s my wife,” says Nick in the conversation whose screenshots have gone viral.

The man then appears surprised quipping: “Makosa imefanyika.”

JUST A JOKE

That is where the problem is. One of the screenshots ends the conversation there and most who have seen only one believe that Nick is the woman’s husband.

However, a second screenshot reveals that Nick was just in his usual trademark: joking.

After a brief exchange in Dholuo, Byron asks Nick if he indeed is the husband.

“Hehe..I’m playing…simjui huyo dada,” he responded.

Nick trended the whole of Friday with some people who had not seen both screenshots expressing shock at the “bizarre” turn of events.

Others condemned the man in the picture as he took the picture while the woman was sound asleep.

Tanzanian songstress Rehema Chamila aka Ray C

Tanzanian songstress Rehema Chamila, better known Ray C, was on Friday night arrested by police after seemingly losing control on the streets of Dar es Salaam.

In a video, which has been widely shared on social media, the once celebrated singer is seen being arrested and bundled into a police pick up.

The singer, who is said to have been shouting that some people were out to kidnap her, appears distraught and dazed.

DRUG ADDICTION

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Ray C has fallen back to her drug addiction. Other reports have it that the singer’s mother has been looking for her, since she has not been seen at home for a while.

Tanzanian actress, ESha Buheti, expressed her disappointment after witnessing the one-time top bongo artiste traumatic experience.

Ray C has been struggling with drug addiction and in 2012 then President of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, offered to pay for her medical bills of the songstress who was undergoing rehabilitation.

The rehabilitation seemed to have been going well and last year she made it to the cover of True love Magazine (April edition) as she recounted her addiction and road to recovery.

The police are investigating the death of an officer who was found dead in his house on Saturday morning, apparently having committed suicide.

The body of Constable Lameck Kipchumba, who was based at Eastleigh patrol Base, was discovered by a fellow officer with whom he shared a house at Eastleigh Police staff houses.

According to police reports, the officer who discovered the body, Constable Anne Wamboi of Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nairobi County, reported that her house girl woke her up at about 8am to inform her that she had not prepared breakfast since the door leading to the kitchen, which is the same one leading to the deceased’s room was locked.

HEAD INJURIES

Repeated knocks on the door by Constable yielded no response and when she pushed the door open she found the room in a mess with clothes scattered on the floor.

It is when she checked the bathroom that she found the officer’s lifeless body hanging from the roof by a lesso. The deceased officer had injuries on the head and was leaning on the sink.

The scene was later visited by senior police officers from Buru Buru Police Division and the body moved to Chiromo Mortuary to await postmortem.

Police are questioning suicide theory and are holding the female officer as a prime suspect.
