Anyone found spotting a t-shirt with a message deemed to be of an abusive language will soon risk imprisonment or heavy fines, should parliament adopt a proposal by National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

In the proposal, which seeks to amend section 13 of the National Cohesion Act 2008, NCIC wants words printed on t-shirts and lessos to be vetted for hate speech and those found guilty subjected to serious penalties.

“A person who wears or engages in the display of clothing, signs, flags, emblems and insignia with the intention to incite or stir up ethnic hatred… towards a person or a group of persons or towards their property commits an offense,” the proposal reads in part.

HATE SPEECH

NCIC will also engage sign language experts to interrogate non-verbal cues made voluntarily or involuntarily and anyone found guilty fined Sh5 million up from Sh3 million if the proposal passes in Parliament.

“It is not just about speech, there are many nonverbal ways people spread hate speech and once the proposal will be effective, it will tame completely the vice,” NCIC said in a statement.

The move by NCIC comes in the wake of the arrest and prosecution of eight politicians on charges of hate speech and incitement. The politicians were released on Friday on bond after spending three days in police custody.

Kenyan singer, Alisha Popat, has attributed her love for Kenya as the reason why she showcases the country’s beauty across the globe.

Alisha has also revealed that her passion for conservation is what informed her decision to shoot all her videos in some of the country’s best known tourist sites.

“What I have to show on my music videos to the world is how beautiful my country. I am so proud of how Kenya keeps its conservation and so I thought I had to do is show the would how beautiful this place is,” Alisha said in an exclusive interview with Nairobi News.

The singer is also full of praise for Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) for what they are doing to conserve wildlife.

“When we set fire to all that ivory (in April), it was such a big stand for us as a country. I’m sure 90 per cent of Kenyans were incredibly happy with that massive gesture. That was Kenya basically saying that we are willing to lose that amount of money to stay true to what we believe in,” she said.

Southampton's Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama’s impending high profile move to Tottenham Hotspur will be confirmed in the next week.

Nairobi News, after speaking to the Kenyan international midfielder’s family members in Nairobi, can confirm that, indeed, the Southampton midfielder has agreed a deal in principle to move to the London based English Premier League club ahead of the 2016/2017 season.

“This (transfer) is almost done. Victor will depart for London (from Nairobi) on Tuesday or Wednesday for a medical, then sign a four year deal.

WEEKLY WAGE

Various media outlets in England have reported that an estimated Sh1.6 billion fee has been agreed between Southampton and Tottenham – who beat off interest from English champions Leicester City to secure Wanyama’s services.

In addition, Wanyama’s new deal is said to be worth about double the weekly wage of Sh11 million he has been earning at the Saints for the last three weeks.

Interestingly, the impending move to Spurs will complete a reunion between Wanyama and his former coach at Southampton, Mauricio Pochettino, who signed Wanyama from Celtic three years ago.

Wanyama will also be featuring in the prestigious Uefa Champions League next season, a competition his elder brother, MacDonald Mariga won with Inter Milan in the year 2010.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

The six legislators who were recently locked up at a Police Station for three days for alleged hate speech say they had ample time behind bars to discuss matters of national importance.

According to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, the legislators put aside their party affiliation and during their incarceration and even rejected efforts by Cord leader Raila Odinga to meet them separately during one of his visits to Pangani Police Station.

“He (Raila) came to the OCS office and asked to see us,”Mr Kuria who was one of those arrested, explained in an exclusive interview with NTV on Saturday night.

“He first wanted to meet the three Cord legislators and thereafter talk to those of us from the Jubilee wing. We plainly told him No,” Kuria said.

The controversial lawmaker added that the politicians also took time to discuss, among other things, issues regarding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

STREET DEMOS

The opposition has for the past two months led streets protests in a bid to force IEBC officials to vacate office.

Most of the demos have however been marked with violence pitting the protesters and security forces resulting in death, injury and damage of property.

Mr Kuria, who was arrested after being caught on camera suggesting that Mr Odinga should be assassinated, claimed that he has held talks with the former Prime Minister “to clear the air.”

Apart from Mr Kuria, the other MPs who were arrested and arraigned in court on charges of hate speech are Junet Mohammed (Suna East), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi), Florence Mutua (Busia) and Senator Johnson Muthama (Machakos).

Kuria and Muthama are among a group of legislators who have been named in the Joint Select Committee to hold talks to resolve the IEBC standoff.

As curtains came down on the Miss Tourism Kenya competition, Bungoma County’s representative’s eligibility was cast in doubt after the county government denounced her.

A source told Nairobi News that a letter started doing rounds on a Bungoma Whatsapp group after Catherine Sabina – Miss Tourism Bungoma – referred to the county as a “wheelbarrow county” during an interview on a local TV station.

The letter stated that the county did not hold any competitions for Miss Tourism 2016 and any candidate purporting to be representing the county was an imposter.

Ms Sabina’s reported remark could have been in reference to an incident in last year when the Bungoma County made headlines after the county’s ministry of agriculture purchased 10 wheelbarrows at a total cost of Sh1.09 million.

GRAND FINALE

However, while speaking to Nairobi News on phone before the competition’s grand finale, the event’s national coordinator, Ms Rosemary Kawira, said she has not received the letter and has no knowledge of it.

“I am yet to the receive the letter and as we speak, Catherine Sabina, the Miss Bungoma County representative, will be compete with other 42 contestants in tonight’s (Saturday) final for the Miss Tourism Kenya title,” said Ms Kawira.

According to Ms Kawira, the Miss Tourism county editions are usually held by the county government or the private sector is outsourced to organize the event. In Bungoma, and other counties, the latter was the case this year.

“If the county is not able to organize the event, we engage someone from the private sector to hold the event. In such a scenario, our job is only to receive the candidate who emerges victorious,” Ms Kawira explained.

There was drama at the Disruption Africa tour Nairobi concert last Saturday at the Carnivore.

Just as the show was winding up, a heated argument broke out between model Deliah “Ipupa” Oindi and a woman she had accused of stealing her phone, an iPhone 6.

She had apparently left it charging where the “thief” was seated and when the accused left, the phone went missing.

An incensed Deliah went after the lady and took her purse preventing her from leaving the venue and would only hand it over if she got her phone back.

Luckily, before any cat fights ensued, police at the venue intervened separating the two to hear both sides of the story. Minutes later, the phone was found tucked away in someone else’s purse.

The Entertainment with Fun for Charity (EFC) Basketball Tournament will next week Saturday hold another tournament for a charitable cause.

This time, they will be shooting hoops in support of a young man who was shot during an Al-Shabaab bus attack last year.

“He is still recovering but has to go to Kenyatta Hospital everyday for dressing. We want to help him in whichever way we can, even if it means starting a small business to get his livelihood back,” Nonini said.

Two weeks ago, the tournament helped raise money for a young woman’s fees for university education. They managed to raise Sh126,000 for the girl from Korogocho slum who is set to join Kenyatta University.

After what has been a week to forget, Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, took time on Saturday night to make a surprise appearance at a reggae concert in Nairobi.

Having spent three nights in a cold and dingy police cell the controversial legislator must have been longing for freedom.

Just hours after appearing on a live talk show in NTV, Mr Kuria walked in Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) grounds at around 1am for a music concert where Jamaica’s best reggae artiste, Chronixx was performing.

In tow was en entourage of a about a dozen hangers-on and bodyguards, but Mr Kuria freely mingled with the crowd before the show started.

HATE SPEECH CHARGES

After greeting his supporters, the MP took his front row seat at the VIP section to enjoy the show. Reporters were, however, kept a bay by Mr Kuria’s bodyguards.

At one point the bodyguards briefly questioned Nairobi News photographer, who was busy clicking away.

Mr Kuria was among eight legislators who were arrested on Tuesday in Nairobi and held in police custody for four days and three nights over allegations of hate speech.

The political leaders arraigned in court on Friday and released on bond.

On stage, the 24-year-old singer, whose real name is Jamar Rolando McNaughton Jr, popularly known for his mega hit Here Comes Trouble, did not disappoint his fans on chilly night in Nairobi.

Snappy 7: Jacky B – I will never produce any vulgar music

Gospel music producer Jacob Otieno aka Jacky B during the interview with Nairobi News. PHOTO | FRANSOIR NDERITU

From humble beginnings that forced him to start working at a young age, Jacob Otieno aka Jacky B, has risen to become one of the top gospel music producers in the country.

Jacky B’s TamuSana Records has produced, among other hits, Size 8’s Mateke and Daddy Owen’s Vanity which got six nominations in this year’s Groove Awards. The well-established producers spoke to Nairobi News in a candid interview about his life:

1. Briefly tell us about yourself? – I’m a very humble man, a born-again Christian and a producer. When I was young I used to go to a studio and during that time a producer who was mentoring me started calling me Jacky Boy. So later on I changed it to Jacky B because I was no longer a boy; that is how my name came to be.

My childhood was not easy and we were forced to move back to the country side after my parents passed away. Sometimes we had to fend for ourselves, but what helped me was that I was a bright student in school. After my primary education, my high school education was sponsored by a Good Samaritan.

2. Why did you choose to produce gospel music only? – I will not say that producing secular music is bad, but when I look were God has taken me from, all I want is to do is His work as a way of giving my testimony.

I wouldn’t mind producing songs praising your mother, father or wife, but what I will never do is produce for someone who sings vulgar music.

3. What is different when working with established artistes from upcoming ones? – Nothing much, except that, when you are dealing with an established artiste, they already know what they want unlike the upcoming artistes who just walk in and tell you to do everything for them. The established artists are very humble, unlike what the public thinks of them.

4. Did you finally recover your stolen awards? – Whoever stole them disappeared with them without trace. They stole my Grove Award, Mwafaka Award and other awards I had won. One day I was at home and being a Christian I always have artistes come to my house because I also have a studio there and on this particular day while I was relaxing at home, I noticed that my awards were not where I always put them. I tried asking around if anyone had seen them but later I had to admit that someone had stolen them.

5. Tell us about one of your most embarrassing moment? – One day after I had cleared high school I was with a girlfriend after a kesha. We were talking on a balcony of this building and some people thought we were either thieves or we were doing something wrong. Everyone came out and we were beaten up. Fortunately we were both fully dressed up.

6. What’s your secret to making great hit songs? – There is no secret of making a great hit, because you will never know when you are doing it. What I can tell you is that, as a producer, I know a good musician when they walk in my studio. One thing people need to know is that, the best musicians have not been heard yet.

It is very difficult for me as a producer to try and push the music to radio or TV stations, most of these unknown artistes are very talented but their music is never played on air. Most stations always keep asking of the old artistes. That’s why we are stagnant the industry.

7. Advice to any upcoming artist? – It takes perseverance to make it. Do not just come in and tell me that I can sing yet you are not prepared. Try and be humble and brand yourself before you approach a producer.

The post on Facebook by Lawyer Donald Kipkorir of his spending has subsequently become a trending topic on social media.

“Today, I hosted my friends to lunch at Secret Garden restaurant, 14riverside, Riverside,” Mr Kipkorir’s post read.

The lawyer went ahead to post a few pictures of some of the guests he entertained, including a receipt of his bill which stood at Sh117,000.

FACEBOOK REACTION

“I don’t object to you spending your money and living large, but there ways you can ‘ball’ without necessarily stooping so low! Real millionaires ball in silence, posting bills/plane tickets/hotel room pics/etc all over social media everytime you give yourself a treat is just being too cheap. Obviously you will scare us, the sufferers into submission, but what will your fellow millionaires think of you? I repeat, there are ways you can show off without stooping too low!” one Allan Nyongesa wrote.

Ruth Malala had a simple request: “Wakili I just work around there at Hanover building next time hola me though I saw the group din’t know it was you ninge gate crush,” while Eng Jonah R Cheserek said: “Hapo kwa mambo ya receipt umeanguka snr.”

A certain Jojo Jojo Jojo opined: “You live once wakili; besides this looks like its your Individual Social Responsibility. Nobody can ever understand the fulfilment it leaves you with. Do it again and ensure to spend more,” while Grace Karigi differed: “Yes it is… A wall that you share with the rest of the world. Ask yourself what motivated you to display that receipt… You know deep down it is vanity but then again so are most humans.. Said with respect.”

Victor Wanyama’s high profile,  multi-billion shilling move from Southampton to London-based Tottenham Hotspurs could be sealed in the next couple of hours.

Wanyama flew out of Nairobi for London on Sunday morning alongside his former manager Ivan Modia to finalize the switch, pending a medical.

Moving to Spurs will see the Kenya captain reunite with his former coach Mauricio Pocchettino, who currently manages Spurs’ first team.

The deal is understood to be in the region of Sh2 billion with Southampton banking almost 80 percent of these proceeds.

The remaining amount will be paid to both his agents and former club Celtic that inserted a “sell on clause” in his contract to receive a percentage of any future transfer.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION

The impending rigorous medical examination on Monday is considered a formality for the evenutal transfer as Wanyama has been playing in England for the past two seasons.

Personal terms have also been agreed between Wanyama and Tottenham on a four-year deal following weeks of negotiations involving his long time agent, Rob Moore who heads Barcelona-based agency ExtraTime.

It is understood, according to close family members who spoke to Daily Nation Sport, that the Harambee Stars captain expects to double his monthly take home pay to about Sh20 million.

Understandably, the player declined to speak on this matter when contacted on Sunday evening.

Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa and former Harambee Stars coach Bobby Williamson described Wanyama’s move to Tottenham as “fantastic”.

“It shows progression. Most importantly, it will help our players aim higher and be more ambitious,” Mwendwa said.

Williamson, added: “This is a move to a bigger club and the lad has earned it. He is a mature player who has got what it takes to flourish.

“He’s lived in Glasgow before moving to England so London so shouldn’t be a problem for him.”

Wanyama had also attracted interest from EPL champions Leicester but the player has decided to repay the faith of Pochettino, who offered him a first opportunity in English football while in charge of Southampton.

REJECTED SOUTHAMPTON OFFER

The defensive midfielder whose value has rapidly grown over the past three years rejected an improved offer to remain at Southampton, forcing the club to cash in on him or risk losing him for nothing when his deal formally expires next June.

Tottenham will compete in the 2016/2017 Uefa Champions League offering Wanyama another chance to play in this prestigious club tournament.

Taxi-hailing app Mondo Ride has announced lower charges for customers opting to take older taxis, giving riders an extra choice to match their budgets.

The new option will see Mondo Ride customers pay a lower rate of Sh48 per kilometre, Sh3 for every minute spent on transit and a base fee of Sh100.

The firm’s standard service rates are Sh58 for every kilometre, Sh5 for every minute and a base fare of Sh100.

The announcement comes days after the firm announced that it would charge its drivers a Sh50 commission per every ride booked on its app, which is lower than the 25 per cent cut that Uber, the American rival, chops off its drivers’ earnings.

The head of Mondo Ride Africa, Joar Lindh said “the new product caters to older cars for clients who are more price oriented and less picky with cars.”

“We do not discriminate cars based on the year of their manufacture as long as they are well maintained. The service a taxi offers while under Mondo Ride is dependent on its current holistic view,” he said.

Mondo Ride gets to decide the type of service a car will offer after a thorough inspection.

Big Daddy with one of his two “brides” Sasha, during feeding time at Mamba Village in Mombasa last week. He will be weighed for the book of world records in September. PHOTO | LABAN WALLOGA

Wedding bells are ringing in Mombasa. In a few short months, all roads will be leading to Mamba Village to witness as Big Daddy and his two brides tie the knot.

But before that, he will take a shot at a world record when, in September, a team from the Guinness Book of Records arrives in Mombasa to measure his vital statistics.

Big Daddy is not just another crocodile — and he has not always been a darling.

GOBBLED FRIENDS

He was first put in captivity in 1986 after mauling five people in River Tana. And he was so mean that when he arrived at his new home, he quickly gobbled not one, not two but 10 of his friends.

His appetite led Mamba Village managers to put him in solitary confinement.

Bid Daddy, believed to be over 100 years old, got a reprieve a few years ago when two female crocodiles — Sasha and Salma — were introduced in his corner of the pool.

He welcomed them with open claws, and they have been living happily since. He even changed his behaviour, allowing one or the other of the two to enjoy a bite from his share of meat at feeding times every Friday.

And this, dear reader, is why come December, he will be wedded to Sasha and Salma.

RARE OCCASION

“We expect that the event will attract thousands of tourists who will come to witness the rare occasion,” said Mr Paul Mutua, the product manager at Mamba Village.

Already, he and his team are in talks with the Kenya Tourism Board and other players in the sector to see how the event can be used to promote tourism.

“We are still discussing on how we will put a “king’s crown” on his head and veils for the brides. When it comes to “kiss the bride”, there is also an elaborate plan for that,” said Mr Mutua.

Before that, they have invited the Guinness Book of World Records team in September to establish the weight and length of the crocodile, with a view of listing it in the book of records as one of the largest in the world.

Crocodiles can grow to over five metres long, live for up to hundreds of years and weigh upwards of a tonne.

The longest crocodile in the world as recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records lives in a zoo in Australia. It measures 5.5 metres, weighs 1,300 kilos and is said to be 110 years old.

Controversial businesswoman Joyce Akinyi was on Monday charged afresh at the Kibera law courts with trafficking narcotic drugs.

The prosecution amended a charge sheet in a case she pleaded not guilty last year to include a count of possession of narcotic drugs.

She was charged that on March 25 last year at Dam Two estate in Langata Nairobi, jointly with John Alex, Rush Auma and Kelvin Odour, they were found in possession of heroin valued at Sh4.2 million.

In another count, she is accused together with John Alex of trafficking heroin at her Deep West Resort in Langata, Nairobi on March 25 last year.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged narcotic drug had a value of Sh94,000.

Court documents indicate that she was found with a substance that preliminary tests established was heroin.

In a separate count on the same charge sheet, John Alex Otieno, Risper Auma and Kelvin Oduor were charged with trafficking 1833.6 grams of cocaine valued at Sh4.6 million.

The three were allegedly found at a house in Dam estate, Langata, with sachets containing the proscribed drug on March 25 moments after Ms Akinyi was arrested at Deep West Resort.

Ms Akinyi is out on Sh500,000 bond. The case is set to proceed before Kibera principal magistrate Benard Ochoi Monday.

Nairobi girl who rose from hawker to regional manager

She believes that your background should not
determine who you become in future. PHOTO | JEFF ANGOTE

Sitah Lang’o’s warm and affable personality is infectious. In just five minutes, you turn from acquaintance to old friend, a gift that has seen her graduate from struggling to make a living in Maringo Estate, in Eastlands, to Regional Country Manager, East Africa, for SWIFT, a global company that offers financial messaging services to financial institutions.

Sitah jokingly calls herself a village girl. She was born and raised in Ugenya, Siaya County, with four siblings, and credits who she is today to her parents; her father, a retired civil servant, and her mother, a farmer.

“I grew up seeing what hard work is,” Sitah observes, recalling her mother being the source of fresh vegetables and milk for institutions and households in the area, produce grown from their farm.

INDEPENDENCE

She admired her mother’s independence; “She didn’t need to ask anyone for anything,” she remarks.

She joined boarding school at the tender age of eight; her mother believed her and her siblings would get better schooling away from home, and today, Sitah feels that she would not be who she is today had she not gone to boarding.

In 2001, she graduated from Kisumu Girls High School, and that December, her father helped her find internship at a five star hotel in the city. She was elated because she had always wanted to work in the hospitality industry.

After her father’s retirement in 2001, money was not easy to come by, so Sitah had to look for ways to foot her transport and meals, since her mother could only afford to pay for her accommodation in a small room in Maringo Estate, in Eastlands.

She would work 18 hours daily without any stipend. She started her shift at 6.30am and would work, waiting tables and attending to client orders until midnight so that she could get transport home.

Leaving earlier meant that she would have to spend money on transport and meals; money she did not have.

INTERNSHIP ENDED

In April 2002, her internship ended and she was informed that since she did not have suitable academic credentials, she could not graduate to full-time employment. Her mother wanted her to go back home, but she refused, telling her that she would find her own way in the city.

She was without a job for a couple months, spending most of her time at a friend’s tailoring shop in Maringo. She was lucky because her friend was kind enough to give her food. Occasionally, she would take a matatu ride into the city to look for work at restaurants, with no success.

One Sunday while going to church, she struck a conversation with a man she was seated next to. He happened to own a bar, as well as a small fast food stall selling chips, in BuruBuru Estate, Nairobi.

The man offered her a job – for Sh2,500 a month, Sitah prepared and sold chips to the customers that frequented the bar. The pay was not much, but she was glad to have work. And work she did, from 9am to midnight seven days a week.

Her hard work was unappreciated though, because her boss would pay her intermittently, and after three months, owed her Sh5,000 in salary arrears. Her diligence drew the attention of her bosses’ wife, who also ran a business in the CBD. She employed her to prepare and hawk tea and bread along River road between 6am and 8pm.

Sitah thought that her pay would be prompt, but she was wrong.

“She rarely had money to pay me.”

PAID IN FOOD

Her payment was in food – the bread and tea that was left over. The Sh2, 500 monthly that she was promised was rare, and seven months later, owed Sh10, 000 by her employer, Sitah questioned her life’s direction.

“One day, I just didn’t turn up at work.”

Around that time, her siblings moved to Nairobi from Siaya to seek work opportunities.

“We were all struggling together, so we encouraged and supported each other.”

After some time, her elder sister informed her that a fast food restaurant on Moi Avenue in the CBD was looking for a night shift cashier, however, the proprietor preferred a male cashier, who he thought would better handle the sometimes dangerous incidents that took place during the night. Sitah convinced him that she could cope, and he relented, offering her Sh5,000 monthly for a 7pm to 6 am shift.

Sitah shakes her head when she recalls the late night fiascos she witnessed while working here. An elderly man who used to covertly hawk alcohol sachets in front of the restaurant quickly appointed himself her bodyguard, and would intervene whenever an incident occurred in the restaurant.

Incidents such as thefts, stabbings and general assaults of sex workers and drunken brawls were common at her work place.

Diamond Platinumz girlfriend and baby mama Zari Hassan on Sunday penned an emotional appreciation to her ex-husband Ivan Ssemwanga.

On Father’s Day on Sunday, Zari – contrary to last year in which she only acknowledged Diamond – opted to tag her ex-husband in an emotional message to Diamond “and to the rest of the dads playing a great role in their kids’ lives.”

Zari and Ivan had three sons during their tumultuous marriage that ended in 2014.  The three boys live with their mother in South Africa, but frequently visit their father who is also based in the same country.

The two former lovers still keep in touch and are directors of several companies that they started together in South Africa during their marriage.

Zari’s Father’s Day message to her ex-husband came as speculation is rife in Tanzania that she is expecting her second child with Diamond.

According to Tanzanian media, the ‘Utanipenda‘ singer is unhappy with the pregnancy, which he described to journalists as coming too soon since his daughter Tiffah is yet to turn a year old.

Coast based singer Nyota Ndogo is suing a Ugandan Facebook page that is purporting to have been responsible for pairing her with her Danish husband Henning Nielson.

The Facebook page, called Ugandan Single White Men – Sugardaddies & Mummies, pairs young African men and women with white men at an undisclosed fee.

Nyota Ndogo told Nairobi News on phone on Monday that she got wind of the fraud from her Kenyan friend who lives in Tanzania.

The friend informed the singer that a picture of herself and her husband standing together was being used by the page to attract and also convince clients who might be doubtful.

“On Friday a friend of mine in Tanzania called me to inform me that a dating site has been using a photo of me and my husband on their site, using me as an example of a success story,” said Nyota Ndogo.

“The site asks for money from the people interested, and if they see a client is doubtful, they show them my picture as proof. My husband and I never met on any dating site, we met while I was in was on a music tour in America,” she added.

The picture was posted on the Facebook page on March 9, 2016 and identifies Nyota Ndogo and her husband as “Sarah and Raymond”.

The singer said she has already sent some of her representatives to Uganda who will take legal action against the Facebook page.

Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has said that he will not apologise for remarks that linked Governor Evans Kidero to murder and theft of property.

The standoff between the two politicians started on Wednesday during a session of Senate’s County Public Accounts and Investments Committee in which  Sonko linked Governor Kidero to murder and accused him of grabbing people’s property.

“This county government has been taking away properties belonging to the people of Nairobi. They give fake demands of rates and then grab the property. They then kill the people. I have evidence to prove all these. I am ready to file an affidavit,” Mr Sonko had said.

The senator did not substantiate his claims even after he was pushed to do so by Committee Chairman Anyang Nyong’o. Governor Kidero has since said he will not appear before the Committee if Sonko is not punished for insulting him.

But in a Facebook post on Monday,  the flambouyant senator said he has sufficient “documentary and video evidence” to back his claim.

“Whenever I raise issues pertaining to corruption in city hall some people change the story that I am playing politics coz of the governorship race but I have sufficient documentary and video evidence. To prove my allegations. They say do not release all your arsenals when going to war. But I am going to release them all through an affidavit I am going to swear without any fear coz mimi niko ready for anything,” Senator Sonko said.
